Drinking Water Testing Kits
Need your drinking water tested? Clearwater SWCD has partnered with RMB Environmental Laboratories located in Detroit Lakes to provide drinking water testing kits for pick-up and drop-off at our office. Simply pick up a kit at our office, take your samples at home and return it to our office for the RMB courier to bring it to the lab for you.
Testing kits are available at our office for the following:
- Coliform & E. Coli Bacteria
- Nitrate Nitrogen
- Arsenic
- Lead
- Iron
- Hardness
- and more
All water kit samples must be dropped off Monday-Thursday BEFORE 10:00 A.M. as the courier service only runs during this timeframe.
All water samples must be taken the same day as dropped off.
When dropping off, a check made out to RMB for the total amount of each test and courier fee must be included in the bag.
RMB does not run the courier route during certain holidays. Please consider RMB's Holiday Courier Service Policy when dropping off tests.
50% REIMBURSEMENT FOR MISSISSIPPI WATERSHED RESidents
Reimbursement of the total cost for Bacteria and Nitrate Series drinking water testing!
Clearwater SWCD will pay 50% of water test costs through RMB Labs if the participant is willing to share a copy of their test results with the SWCD (all participants information will remain confidential). Program participants within the Mississippi Watershed will pay for their test(s) in full and then the Clearwater SWCD will reimburse them for 50% of the total cost for Bacteria and the Nitrate Series tests once a copy of the lab results are provided to the SWCD.
How to be a Part of the Program:
1. First find out if the water samples you are taking qualify to be within the Mississippi Watershed:
- Simply click the button to the right to bring you to Headwatershed.org
- Enter your address or search the map for your home/sample taking site
- If the map shows you are within the purple lined boundaries follow the next steps!
2. If you are within the Mississippi Watershed then send in your water samples as per RMB Lab's instructions.
3. After receiving your test results from RMB Lab email the following information to Lori.Buell@mn.nacdnet.net:
- Your test results from RMB Labs
- The total amount you paid for the test(s) or a copy of the bill
- Your address at which you'd like to receive your reimbursement check
- The address of the site where you took your water sample if it differs from where you'll be receiving the reimbursement
- Title your email: Mississippi Water Tests Reimbursement
